This country has had more firings and layoffs this year than in the past twenty years. And a great majority of the loss of jobs came after Sept. 11, because of the mass skepticism of idiots. I understood about the loss of jobs because humanity was dumb enough to invent machines to do our work for us, destroying the need for human workers. (The other reason being claimed for layoffs and firings), but because of September 11th? Give me a fuckin' break. One word sums up those who fired and layed off people because of what happened on that day, RETARDED!

LOL, im expecting massive layoffs where I work at the moment, and not because we arnt making money, but because our execs promised our parent company that we would have made about 10 times more profit than we did this year and their afraid their not going to get their 100 grand year end bonuses. End result is that their going to try to make the financial books look like we made more money than we did my reducing staff..I know nothing about accounting but I swear there should be a law against this type of shit...

The economy wasn't doing too well before Sept. 11th and when people start saying that the economy isn't doing well, other people get scared and that's when the economy really starts to break up. I don't think there's ever really anything that can be pointed out, because once it's said idiots get paranoid and that's the moment the excrement really hits the ventilator.

My dad has been in the proces of getting fired for months now (in Holland the company you work for has to help you to find a new job and pay you while you're trying to find something, for a certain period of time of course) and my next door neighbour was also fired.
Happy job hunting to all of you who need it.

Enron's collapse will be hitting the Houston area pretty hard soon. 4,000 let go in one day because of upper management's major screw ups.

One of my best friends got laid off her programming job because all their customers were putting projects on hold until next year.

I'm very lucky right now, working for a small company that isn't having any problems.

Then there's my company... making major changes in the dress code, making new badges for us, laying off a lot of DSMs, cutting payroll.... and then making a contest where the stores can win their DSM another $1000 to add to his paycheck...... fuck that, I go out of my way and practically bend over backwards for customers and they can't give US the bonuses?! Fuck corporate.... they can kiss my ass goodbye... hopefully by next week I can be on my way to making 35 grand at another store.
